How to Choose a Florida Drug Rehab Center

Choosing the best drug rehab for your needs is a difficult decision. There are numerous drug and alcohol treatment centers to choose from and some will be better suited to your needs than others. All facilities aren’t created equal, so you’ll need to do your research beforehand. A lot of facilities employ similar treatment options, but there are variances in style and available treatments that might fit your needs better.

Below we highlight all the criteria and questions you’ll need to examine when choosing the best drug rehab facility for a new start.

Examine Methods and Treatment Protocols

Each facility will have its own protocol for carrying out treatment. Most facilities are similar in that they’ll offer forms of drug detox, counseling and therapy, and won’t allow outside contraband. However, there will be variances in the styles of therapy, the types of group counseling available, and the treatment methods. So, you’ll need to choose a facility that suits you best.

Some facilities are affiliated with certain religious groups, and even offer healthy eating plans, and other forms of activity such as yoga, and meditation.

Is Aftercare A Possibility? Aftercare has proven to be incredibly effective in keeping people off drugs once their treatment is complete. Sometimes, aftercare is bundled with the facility, while other times it’s done through another facility.

Be sure to examine your options ahead of time, so you know the course of action following your original treatment. Aftercare can truly be a helpful addition to your treatment program and will go a long way toward helping you achieve sobriety.

Common Questions to Consider

Once you’ve examined the facility basics, you’ll want to consider the following questions to further narrow down your treatment options.

1. Is It A Short-Term or Long-Term Facility?

The most common length of a drug rehab program is 28 days. But, in some cases it may take longer to achieve sobriety. If you think it’s going to take longer than the usual month-long stint, then choose a facility that offers longer sobriety programs.

2. What Is the Goal of The Program?

Different programs will lead to different results. Some programs measure success by stabilization or long-term sobriety. While, others consider success simply completing the 28-day program. Other programs consider abstinence after the return home a success.

Make sure the facility you’re choosing is in alignment with your definition of success.

3. What Forms of Support Are Offered?

Some addiction programs offer medication assisted treatment. Using medications like Suboxone, Naltrexone or Vivitrol to reduce the harm of illegal drugs or overdose death. For this type of program, the goal is a longer continuum that provides medical care, in tandem with therapy modalities.

Most programs employ holistic care like group therapy, individual therapy, exercise, nutrition, relapse prevention, and aftercare.

4. Are Nutrition and Life Skills Part of The Program?

Drug and alcohol addiction can create a host of health problems. Effective drug rehab programs will address loss of appetite, malnutrition, depression, irritation, and other barriers to recovery. These facilities will aid the recovery process with supplements, vitamins, and minerals, while also including an exercise component. To effectively thrive in society following a drug rehab program, some facilities help with job placement, continued support, and other forms of support to help become a healthy member of society.

Once you’ve decided the time has come to give yourself a fresh start it’s important you find a facility that aligns with your goals during and after treatment.
